Municipal Court

The Municipal Court of the City of Lacy Lakeview is the judicial branch of the government. The court adjudicates Class C misdemeanor cases, most of which are criminal, including traffic, city ordinance, state code, juvenile and parking. The City of Lacy Lakeview Municipal Court is committed to fair and impartial administration of justice in a courteous and timely manner.

Court Process

Individuals who receives a citation will need to appear to make disposition within 20 business days. Failure to appear as required by law may result in being denied the renewal of the driver’s license and the assessment of an additional fee. Appearance is made either in person or in writing. A phone call does not constitute an appearance. Only the defendant or his/her counsel can make an appearance. If you are unable to pay, you must contact the court to discuss alternative means of payment.

Court is held at 1 p.m. on second and fourth Wednesdays scheduled by appointment. (Non-Contested court is scheduled on second Wednesdays. Contested court is scheduled on fourth Wednesdays.)

Juveniles

State law requires that juveniles 16 and under appear before the judge in person with a parent or legal guardian. A court appointment will be scheduled during the defendant’s initial appearance. Failure of the parent to appear is a class C misdemeanor and may result in arrest. A child and parent required to appear before the court have an obligation to provide the court in writing with the current address and residence of the child. 

Obligation

The obligation does not end when the child reaches age 17. On or before the seventh day after the date the child or parent changes residence, the child or parent shall notify the court of the current address in writing. A violation of this subsection is a Class C Misdemeanor and may result in arrest. The obligation to provide notice terminates on discharge and satisfaction of the judgment or final disposition not requiring a finding of guilt.

Minors

State law requires that all minors (under 21) that are charged with alcohol/tobacco-related offenses must appear in person before the judge.
