Job Description:
Are you passionate about ensuring communities have access to clean and safe water? Do you possess technical skills and a strong work ethic? If so, we want you to join our team as a Water Operator. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water lines, meters, hydrants, valves, and other water-related equipment.

Record and maintain all necessary data required by state and local regulations.

Monitor and record data from SCADA systems as needed.

Ensure chlorine residual levels within the water system are maintained.

Conduct accuracy tests on water meters.

Perform operational checks and maintenance on pump and storage facilities.

Respond to customer service complaints promptly and professionally.

Assist with bacteriological water sampling as required.

Be available for periodic on-call emergency response duties, including nights and weekends.

Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental goals.

Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Valid Texas Driver's License rated Class "C" or higher with a clean driving record.

Strongly preferred: Valid Class “C” Water Distribution License.

Ability to obtain/maintain required certifications.

Willingness to obtain Wastewater Collection Class II license within eighteen (18) months from date of employment.

Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of water distribution operations and safety procedures.

Proficient in operating a variety of vehicles and equipment.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and maps.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds.

Manual dexterity and coordination for operating equipment.

Visual acuity for reading technical documents and maps.

Work Environment:

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions.

Work environment may include loud noise levels and potential hazards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.61 - $24.48 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 48 per week
